Drinking Water Tank Replacement
THE TASK
In this case study, our team of specialists were tasked with the replacement of a leaking split compartment GRP water tank on behalf of a blue-chip company in England.
Due to a pattern of frequent repairs and poor internal conditions, a new drinking water tank installation was deemed as the most appropriate solution for addressing this area of risk.
After surveying the old tank (displayed to the left) and gathering up the necessary information, it was decided that a new split compartment cold water storage tank (measuring 2m x 1m x 2m in each compartment) would be best suited for the system.
Dismantling The Old Water Tank
Following the installation of a temporary mains supply to ensure supply stayed uninterrupted, our team could then dismantle the old drinking water tank.
This started with isolating the tank, draining the water and removing all panels from site.
As standard, the previous drinking water tank was disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner and the base was assessed for the installation of a new tank.
Drinking Water Tank Installation
The new drinking water tank featured raised chambers, top access hatches, internal and external ladders, an equilibrium float valve, screened connections and a low level access hatch.
Our team reconfigured all necessary pipework to suit the newly installed cold water tank and provided insulation to maximise the systems thermal efficiency.
Following the removal of the temporary bypass, we then refilled the tank, checked for any potential leaks and carried out a cleaning and disinfection.
As a result, the drinking water tank was ready to be returned into service.
