Galvanised Water Tank Relining
THE TASK
In this case study, Titan were challenged with the internal reline of a galvanised steel cold water tank situated within a care home in London.
The storage tank measured 3m x 3m x 1.5m and had been identified as a significant health risk during a recent legionella risk assessment.
An immediate solution was required, with the presence of heavy internal corrosion providing the ideal breeding ground for harmful waterborne bacteria like legionella.
Installing A Temporary Tank
Our expert team of engineers proposed a full reline of the corroded water tank using our specialist range of WRAS approved polyurethane paints.
Despite the limited space available within the plant room, we also proposed the supply and installation of a temporary water tank to maintain down service supply.
The client agreed, and following their instruction, our specialists stepped in to supply, install and commission the temporary water tank into service, ensuring there would be no disruption to the residents whilst the reline process commenced.
Relining The Steel Tank
After completing the internal reline, through a protective stripe coat and two full applications, samples were taken to ensure the potable water supply remained free of harmful bacteria.
After our team carried out a specialist C&D, the care home was provided with a certificate of completion, demonstrating the works had been carried out in accordance with the approved design, and best industry practice.
The solution provided not only addressed the immediate risk, but also provided a longer-term solution to the issue, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the residents and staff at the care home for many years to come.
