Last month, the engineers at Titan Mechanical Services embarked on one of most significant tank replacement projects since we first opened our doors in 2017. Within one of London’s most prestigious apartment complexes, a full revamp of the water system was required to achieve compliance with contemporary water regulations and to ensure the safety of it's users. To avoid the disruption of water supply whilst the works were carried out, a temporary potable tank was installed on behalf our client, which then initiated the three stages of the project.
Phase 1
Isolate and drain all 4no tanks within the roof space
Install local isolation valves in the plant room
Reinstate 2no tanks in one plant room to allow water supply to site
Cut and remove 2no tanks from service
Supply and installation of 1no new GRP cold water storage tank measuring 4m x 1m x 1m - new tank includes raised chamber, screened connections, drop arm float and top access
Reconfigure pipework on inlet and outlet to suit the newly installed tank
Insulate new pipework in foil-back insulation
Clean and disinfect the newly installed tank and new pipework on completion
Phase 2
Isolate and drain the remaining/existing 2no tanks and install local isolation valves in the plant room
Cut and remove 2no tanks from service
Supply and installation of 1no new GRP TIF (totally internally flanged) cold water storage tank measuring 2.5m x 1.5m x 1m – new tank includes raised chamber, screened connections, drop arm float and top access
Reconfigure pipework on inlet and outlet to suit the newly installed tank
Insulate new pipework in foil-back insulation
Clean and disinfect the newly installed tank and new pipework on completion
Phase 3
2no plastic tanks were decommissioned on the roof space; the feed to these tanks had been disconnected and the tanks were emptied. After leaving these in the situ as requested by our client, this system could no longer be used or reinstated without major plumbing in the Plant Room.
